Asan na ang luya!

After a long day at work... nah, sa totoo lang, ang bilis ng oras pag nasa opisina ako. Di ko namamalayan ng last break na pala dahil busy kami makipag-chat sa mga Aussie customers namin. Anyway, bago ako umuwi kanina. Naisipan kong dumaan sa wet market or more commonly known as palengke. Nasabi ko kay tita B kanina na gusto ko ng isda, preferrably sinigang! Sakto nun nasa palengke nako, may buhay na tilapia (my fave!). I have cooked sinigang countless time and this will be the first time that I will use fish as my main ingredient. I have to seek assistant from pareng Google.    And one important ingredient in cooking fish with soup is ginger! (Si ate sa palengke di pinaalala!). So, I'll be using garlic as a sub. Gamit ang ever loyal and wonderful rice cooker, here goes my first sinigang na tilapia...

Ingredients :

1 medium sized tilapia (cut into 2)
2 small white onions
2 tomatoes
3 cloves garlic
1 siling haba
1pack of tarmarind soup base
Kangkong
Patis, salt and pepper to taste

Instructions :

- Simmer about 500ml of water with onions, tomato and garlic combined for 10 minutes.
- Add a pinch of salt, pepper and a dash of Patis.
- Add your preferred tarmarind soup base according to taste.
- Add tilapia in the pot. Simmer for 8-10 minutes.
- Turn off heat and add kangkong. Cover pot until served.

Verdict :

So far, di naman bumula un bibig ko. It actually tastes better than I expected. Next time, I'll use ginger!
